DAVIDE COPPOLA

composer – conductor – pianist – music teacher

ABOUT ME

I’m an Italian composer, conductor, and pianist. I studied piano and composition at the Giuseppe Tartini Conservatory in Trieste, graduating in piano in 2015 and in composition in 2018. I later completed a Master’s degree in Composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (Kunstuniversität Graz), where I studied with Clemens Gadenstätter and graduated with top marks in 2021, followed by an additional degree in 2023 (Composition for Musical Theatre). I have attended international masterclasses with leading composers and performers, including Salvatore Sciarrino, Ivan Fedele, Brian Ferneyhough, and the Arditti Quartet. In 2018 I founded the Cassander Ensemble and have since been the musical director and conductor of the Trieste Musical Company (TMC). My works, with a strong focus on stage music, have been performed in Europe and the Americas, and he has received several international awards.

ABOUT MY WORKS

My compositional output spans orchestral, chamber, solo, vocal, and theatrical works, with a strong focus on the relationship between sound, language, and memory. My music often explores concepts such as refraction, time, and identity through a language that combines timbral research, formal clarity, and expressive tension. From works for orchestra and sinfonietta to chamber and ensemble pieces, as well as music for theatre and dance, my catalogue reflects a consistent interest in the dialogue between musical structures and narrative, visual, and dramaturgical dimensions.
